HypeTown: A Celebration of Esports, Diversity, and Community

HypeTown was a high-energy LAN event spotlighting Fresno State’s all-female and nonbinary academy Valorant team, Fresno State Iris, as they took center stage in an exhibition Valorant match!

 

With a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and school spirit, HypeTown offered more than just gameplay. Guests enjoyed a dynamic halftime performance, interactive activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow gamers and fans.

 

It was an unforgettable evening of competition, community, and entertainment—bringing people together to support Fresno State Esports and foster a welcoming space for all in gaming.

Want to help with future events?

Fresno State Esports offers student internship opportunities each semester, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in areas like event planning, content creation, marketing, and more. These internships are available for 1-unit, 2-unit, or 3-unit "I" courses and provide valuable exposure to the esports industry. Interns will work closely with the team to support events, create content, and help grow the Esports program on campus.

Uniting Campus and Giving Back

HypeTown had a meaningful impact on the Fresno State campus community by creating an inclusive space where students of all backgrounds felt welcomed and represented. The event boosted awareness of esports on campus, strengthened ties between different student groups, and highlighted the importance of diversity in gaming. 

 

In addition, Fresno State Esports raised $300 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, reinforcing the program’s commitment to giving back and supporting meaningful causes.

To our players, supporters, and the entire Fresno State community, your enthusiasm and commitment truly made this event unforgettable. You not only brought awareness to esports on campus, but you also created a welcoming space where everyone felt included and valued.
